There are dozens of …
There are dozens of companies and organizations that solicit ads on college campuses. Any particular reason you’re picking on Vector?
Also, keep in mind that each individual office branch is organized by a different manager; you probably just happen to live within the region of a manager that likes to let students know about this particular job opportunity.
The mailbox thing is the only part of this video I found slightly distasteful. You can have a bad experience working for anybody.

In business, in …
In business, in general, if you have to drive yourself places for work, THAT IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
And why are you using that poor girl just to prove your point. She wasn’t scammed, she just sounded unwilling to work.
There are no valid points here and no proof of your claims. This video was a waste of time.

wow since this is …
wow since this is such a scam I should call the irs and tell them that the 13,000 I made in one semester isn’t real, and all the job offers that I have been getting for 60,000 to 90,000 dollars a year I should turn down because vector is a scam and my experience there wasn’t real.

I was a skeptic …
I was a skeptic when I read about this “scam” but when the majority says it, there must be some truth. They don’t tell you anything when you get hired; all they ask for is an outgoing personality. And then you have to pay $150 for the demo set and find your own customers. If they’re a good company like they say, it should be supplied for free. And the offices look like crap, and you’re technically scamming your family and friends out of overpriced knives. Granted, CUTCO is a very great product.

The problem with …
The problem with selling the world’s best knives is that they last forever. Youe sell once, and that customer won’t need to buy anymore.

lol i got hired …
lol i got hired today, and i saw both sides of the vector info, and i still think vector is gay, im not even ganna show up for training, if the company is as successful as they say they are, why cant they just provide employees their own for free, plus no one wants strangers at ur house, and plus they dont even check ur back ground, some crack head can get that job and no one wants crack heads in their house selling sharp knifes and wasting ppls time.

I am a college grad …
I am a college grad and I thought Vector was the greatest thing since sliced bread. The products themselves are awesome, they’re just not worth the emotional trauma I went through while working for them. I am still a sales rep, but I’m doing it on my own time without all the harrasing phone calls and useless unpaid meetings late at night.

Cutco and Vector is …
Cutco and Vector is THE SINGLE GREATEST WORK OPPORTUNITY for college students. The thing that kids don’t realize about showing to their family and friends is that ALL businesses work on recommendations. Plus, is someone honestly going to spend HUNDREDS of dollars on knives simply because they LIKE you? I don’t really think they like you THAT much… Anyone can come work for me. I’ll be running an office this summer. Thanks!

Cutco/ Vector …
Cutco/ Vector Marketing Is not a scam! I’ve recently started working for them and received paychecks!! The reason people think it is a “scam” is because they ask you to put down a down payment on the display set of nines you show your customers. the set they give you is worth over $500 you put down a down payment of $140 which you will get back when you hand the set back in.

Wow you just fail, …
Wow you just fail, my first two days I made $272 from base pay alone. CutCo Selling the worlds Sharpest knives since 1949. <3

Vector Marketing is …
Vector Marketing is NOT a scam. It’s very legit and you can earn some good money HOWEVER the problem is that you start off training by showing the product to people you know. And then you make your money by connection of family and friends. I rather do grunt work and make 8 dollars an hour rather than getting 18 dollars per appointment and faking that i’m alright showing and selling the product to the people I know. So yes you can make good money, but would you feel comfortable about it?

HI IT’S VINCE WITH CUTWOW YOU’LL BE SAYING WOW EVERY TIME YOU USE THESE KNIVES.
Think Vince with ShamWow ever worked for these guys?

Also, the …
Also, the brainwashing thing…I’m working for them, it kind of is. But thing is, I’m cynical already. The only honest job I had was with my dad, and we did electrical work.
This is real good training, because when you go out into the business world…you’re going to have to lie to get ahead. Politicians, lawyers, pencil pushers, authors…they all lie to sell something.
It’s a prime example of Corporate Darwinism. Work at McDonald’s, you’re gonna be living on welfare. Lie, you’ll get ahead.

I work for them now …
I work for them now. The way it works. People who about all the work that they have to do…you only have to do that much if you WANT to. If not, you don’t have to, but don’t expect to get paid a lot. I’m not gonna work my off, and I know that my results will show that. I honestly don’t care.
The driving. L2DISTANCE. If a place is too far away for you, DON’T GO THERE.
As far as the ridiculous hours, 3 days of unpaid training. Cry me a river. You could have turned down the job…

The sales reps get …
The sales reps get paid 15.25 just fdor an appointment now you set up 20 appointments in a week and thats 300 bucks already its an easy job and they pay great. believe whaat you want but youll never know the truth until you find out and I gaurantee none of you know the truth. unless your work for vector, you dont know anything.
February 24th, 2009 at 3:08 am
the demos show how …
the demos show how much value these knives have and they also give the consumer a lot of info about the knives. Now cutco is the best kitchen cutlery ever made you may not think that but call a office in your area they can come show you how great it is.
February 24th, 2009 at 3:08 am
LOL I love when …
LOL I love when these company flaks tell the reps they just need to “try harder”. You can set up demos day and night but you ain’t gonna make any money if nobody is buying this crap.
February 24th, 2009 at 3:08 am
I’ve worked with …
I’ve worked with cutco cutlery for the past five years while being a student. I love it and direct sales is the most popular form of buying in the US according to the Direct Sales Association. I see all these things being posted that the average rep only makes $3 a day, spends over $1000 a week on gas, and works more than 80 hours a week, but I don’t see any sources. I know that none of the 150+ reps in our division fall into any of those categories. Guess you should have tried harder.
February 24th, 2009 at 3:08 am
The problem with …
The problem with Cutco is that their sales method is outdated. I mean they have been using is since the 50s.
Nobody wants in home demos any more, they would rather go to a store or look on the web when it suits them. Many people don’t care about “personalised” service, they just want a good product at a good price. By “personalised” I mean somebody barging into your home pressuring you to buy this stuff.
By not letting reps demo to many people at once they are losing a lot of sales.
February 24th, 2009 at 3:08 am
I used to work for …
I used to work for Cutco and I ended up quitting after 3 months. To make it in this job you must either know a lot of wealthy people who dont already have good knives, be a naturally gifted salesman, or have no conscience. I do not think it is fair to target young students who are going to waste their summer trying to sell these knives for very little or no money. I quit because I got sick of trying to get people to buy stuff which they didnt really need, or could barely afford.
February 24th, 2009 at 3:08 am
The amount of time …
The amount of time and effort most people put into this job is not worth the reward. Sure 1000 sounds great for a “part time” job, but it doesnt sound so great when you consider the person spend over 80 hours driving around like an idiot to appointments and demoing the knives and possibly getting abused. Not to mention the money you are spending on fuel and other expenses. Even working in McDonalds is more dignified than this.
